Archeology in Bergomum in App

Bergomum was an important Roman city, built on the site of a pre-existing Celtic settlement, the focal point of an extensive territory which was crossed by trade routes and rich in raw materials.

Archaeological excavations have uncovered remains of the thousands of years of occupation of Bergamo’s Upper Town and with the app Bergomum visitors can discover Bergamo’s origins and its most ancient history.

In the app there are two sections:

  • Archaeology in Bergamo, useful to discover the city’s archaeological areas: beside Vicolo Aquila Nera archaeological area (behind the Angelo Mai Civic Library) and those inside the Cathedral Museum and the Palazzo del Podestà, also the remains of a public building in Vicolo Sant’Agata and a cistern that was part of the Roman town’s water supply system.
  • The Archaeological Museum, an instrument to support the visit to all the Museum’s rooms.

The Bergomum app project is promoted by the Municipality of Bergamo in collaboration with the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the provinces of Bergamo and Brescia, with funding from Regione Lombardia.
